Microchipping is a quick, safe and permanent way to help reunite you with your lost pet. At Rose Avenue Veterinary Hospital and Toormina Road Veterinary Clinic, we provide professional microchipping services for cats, dogs, and all companion animals.
A microchip is a tiny implant, about the size of a grain of rice, placed just under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. Each chip has a unique ID number registered on a national database with your contact details.
If your pet ever goes missing, vets, shelters and local councils can scan the microchip and contact you quickly to reunite you with your companion.
Remember: Keeping your contact details up to date on the microchip registry is essential. Please update your information whenever you move or change phone numbers.
By law, all cats and dogs in NSW must be microchipped. Pets should ideally be microchipped before sale or adoption. If you’re unsure whether your pet has a microchip or if your details are current, we can check and update this at your next visit.
When pets change ownership, the new owner must update their details on the database to ensure contact can be made if the pet goes missing.
